BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management contains 12 units and will be delivered at the training premises of MIV. Students must complete all the units to obtain this qualification.
Course Outcomes and Overview of the Content Covered in the Course
This course is designed for students who wish to develop their knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Participants will be able to display initiative and judgment in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload as well as the workload of others. The course will enable them to develop their communication skills in a way that supports individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.

Course Delivery and Assessment
Face-to-Face Classroom based Delivery
Delivery will mainly be face-to-face 20 hours per week over 52 weeks including term/reassessment breaks. Mercury trainers use interactive delivery method in a classroom environment. A group of maximum of 25 students in each batch give trainer enough time and space to deliver the content of the course with engaging students. Mercury ensures all trainers will need to be dynamic and engaging to motivate students. Mercury encourage trainers to use some of the following delivery methods in their face-to-face mode:
- Formative activities during facilitations in classes
Mercury ensure that the learning environment to be safe and accessible, and meet the student’s needs.
Duration and Schedule
BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management course will be delivered over 1200 total hours, delivered 880 hours as 20 hours per week face to face & 320 hours as self-paced learning, over 52 weeks including term/reassessment breaks. (Please refer to self-paced matrix document.)
The recommended volume of learning for Diploma is 1 year made up of supervised hours which include face to face training an assessment completion as well as unsupervised hours which are self-paced learning/home studies. MIV delivers this qualification in 1 year including holidays.
Where it has been determined that an individual student may require the application of any reasonable adjustment throughout their studies, MIV may increase courses lengths on an individual basis or it may be reduced in the case of credit transfer/RPL.

Mercury Institute of Victoria Admission requirements
MIV has the following admission requirements:
- Age (MIV is not accepting students under the age of 18) for all courses on scope
- An English language proficiency level of one of the following:
- IELTS band score of 5.5 (academic test version) or equivalent
- IELTS band 5.0 and a successful completion of ELICOS
- For Assessment Level 1 countries – MIV English Placement Test
- Minimum secondary studies in your home country equivalent to an Australian Year 11

Study period 1 (Deposit to be paid prior to being issued CoE): 2500 AUD tuition fees and 250 AUD Application fee

RPL and Credit Transfer
MIV will offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer to all student at the time of enrolment. RPL enables students who have not undertaken the unit or equivalent, but have the required knowledge and skills, to demonstrate competency for the unit in an assessment only pathway. An RPL kit is available for candidates wishing to apply for RPL and information sessions are available to support the candidates in their application.
AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by other RTOs are recognised by MIV.
